Character Design Diary: Plushies Part 1

A signature of mines is my incorporation of plushies into my art. The story behind that relates to my father’s love for Beanie Babies and when I used to play with toys as a kid. Another reason why I try to interpret animals as plushies is because I was too lazy to accurately draw them. Plushies started as a shortcut and later turned into a signature style of mine. Below are two plush character designs for a comic that I am working on. The first is based on a family dog, Cooper. I tried my best to capture his features and translate into into a plush design. This is my third time drawing Cooper, but the first time I spent working on a character design sheet.
