Work In Progress: Trying Not to Play It Safe

It’s been a while since I posted on this site. I have a lot of plans for the future, but I much rather show than talk about them. In the mean time, I wanted to share two pictures that I am working on. I recently posted a few pictures on Instagram, but I was annoyed by two of them. They felt too safe, and I felt like I was falling into a habit of being predictable. I think it is tough trying to find the balance of having your own style and being predictable. I want me style to unique to me, but I don’t want to feel rigid in my exploration of my art style. So for the two pictures that didn’t sit right with me, my goal wasn’t just a redraw, but re-evaluating my approach. Here are the results of that work:
